Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said there will be a passage for motorcycles in the Eurasia Tunnel from May 1.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “Motorcycle users will now also benefit from the privilege offered by the Eurasia Tunnel. We are opening the Eurasia tunnel to motorcycle traffic from May 1, before the Ramadan holiday.
Motobike Istanbul, suspended for 2 years due to the pandemic, opened its doors for the 13th time this year. Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu, AK Party MP Sakarya Kenan Sofuoğlu and many motorcycle enthusiasts attended the fair held at the CNR Expo Fair Center. Speaking at the opening of the fair, Minister Karaismailoğlu said they continue to work to expand the use of bicycles and scooters in cities, they are trying to build cycle paths all over Turkey and that they had protective guardrail systems in place specifically for motorcycle users. .

Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “We are working to increase the use of electric vehicles in public transport and service vehicles. We encourage the development of national and national technologies for environmental sustainability and for the transition to clean energy in the field of transport. The technical and administrative substructures that will allow the generalization in our country of the growing number of electric vehicles. “We are working on the structure. We are creating the general concept of projects for the generalization of the use of bicycles and scooters in cities and pedestrianization projects.”

Karaismailoğlu mentioned that the use of motorcycles increased by 15.6% in 2022 compared to the previous year, and with the new figure, there are 3.8 million motorcycles in Turkey. Karaismailoğlu said: “Rapidly developing and growing cities in the development of transport and communication infrastructure and new technologies brought by digitalization have changed the ecosystem of mobility in urban transport. Especially in the streets of our metropolitan cities, micro-mobility vehicles with an average speed of less than 50 kilometers per hour have increased a lot.According to TUIK data for February 2022, the number of motorcycle registrations increased by 15.6% compared to January-February of the previous year. This number was 12,000,517 in February 2021. Minister Karaismailoğlu continued:

In this context, we install motorcycle protection guardrail systems, also known as motorcycle friendly barriers, on our highways in order to reduce the severity of collisions at the time of the accident, and we increase the number and length of the positions. We place the guardrails in areas where motorcycle accidents are concentrated and the risks are high. D ‘After analyzing accident detection reports from our highways, we have installed motorcycle guardrail systems over more than 13,000 meters to date, on the lines and points most at risk. Plus, we teamed up with the Turkish Motorcycle Platform and decided to build a barrier suitable for 190-point bikers.
