Ümit Özdağ: the CHP decided not to nominate Mansur Yavaş as a candidate

Victory Party chairman Ümit Özdağ spoke about what happened after he called Mansur Yavaş for the presidential candidacy during the press conference he held at the party headquarters.

Ümit Özdağ said, “Our reason for inviting Mansur Yavaş as a candidate is that the CHP has decided not to nominate Mansur Yavaş as a candidate. We wanted to reopen the candidacy of Mansur Yavaş. Mansur Yavaş is now on the table. The name of Mansur Yavaş, which was not on the table, is now on the table. Özdağ said the CHP headquarters had the mentality of “whoever becomes a candidate against Erdoğan will win”.

Recalling that Mansur Yavaş was targeted and called a “gang” by the AKP members of the ABB council, Özdağ said that the CHP does not support Mansur Yavaş in the face of these accusations.

Titles of the Özdağ declaration:

“CHP HEADQUARTERS DECIDED NOT TO AVOID MANSUR YAVAŞ”

“There is no need to look for a conspiracy behind the Victory Party’s decision to invite Mansur Yavaş as a candidate. We have only one reason for this invitation; Although Mansur Bey was the only candidate who could win, the CHP headquarters decided not to nominate Mansur Yavaş as a candidate.

The CHP headquarters is wrong with the lie that whoever runs against Erdoğan will win. He not only deceives himself but also the public. Previously, this headquarters had confronted Turkey with the Ekmeleddin Bey affair. He defended the candidacy of Abdullah Gul in the 2018 elections, and now he wants to try to overthrow the “palace rule” of the Turkish people for the third time.

By inviting Mansur Yavaş to power, the Victory Party aimed to prevent the quiet liquidation of Yavaş and pave the way for his candidacy. It is clear from the statements of the six political parties which held their third meeting last night that we were right. The six parties, which say they have deepened their cooperation, still keep beating water in the air.

‘CHP IS SILENT IN ATTACKS ON MANSUR YAVAS’

On Saturday, April 23, on a news channel, a person who is the vice chairman of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council Group and AK Party attacked Mr. Mansur Yavaş and his team, called them ” gang”, accused them of being a “parallel structure” and called the headquarters of the CHP. There has not been the slightest response from these attacks. This is actually not believable and understandable. Such heavy slanders will be launched against a successful mayor who has the support of the Turkish people and the people of Ankara, and you will not defend him. Well, he understands your defensiveness, we suspect; I assume you are satisfied.

HAS MANSUR MET YAVAS?

We did not meet Mansur Bey before or after he made this statement. We don’t have a meeting scheduled at this time. We are at the same point where we were 19 days ago. The public support behind Mansur Yavaş Bey is increasing day by day after this statement. We see how much the government is panicking. What upsets us is not the panic of the government, but the panic of the CHP.

WHAT WILL THE VICTORY PARTY DO IF MANSOUR SLOW IS NOT nominated?

If the alliance of six does not nominate Mansur Bey for various reasons, we as the Victory Party will nominate Mansur Yavaş.

‘TALAT PASHA BORDER GATE’ PROPOSAL

Showing his reaction to the lie about the Armenian Genocide which is on the agenda each year on April 24, Özdağ said that there was a reaction from other parties to the statement by Garo Paylan of the HDP and launched a appeal to the parties in Parliament:

“We call on all political parties here. Today, as the Victory Party, we present a proposal to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. We propose that the border gate of Akkaya on the Armenian border be renamed Talat Pasha border gate. If you are sincere in your reaction, we expect your support for this proposal made by the Victory Party. If you do not support our proposal, the Turkish public will take note of your behavior.

PROF DR ŞAHİN FİLİZ PARTICIPATED IN THE VICTORY PARTY

Professor Ümit Özdağ attended the victory party during the press conference. Dr. Şahin put the party badge on Filiz.

Şahin Filiz said in a statement, “I joined the Victory Party because it is an established party for the Turkish nation.”
