NFT: Le Parisien sells pieces of its history with the “Crypto-unes” project.

This is the first time for a French media and a rare opportunity for its readers. At the start of the next school year, Le Parisien will offer 1000 unique NFTs for sale, coupled with numerous community benefits, created from 100 historical front pages.

Selected by the editors, these first pages highlight some of the most significant current events since 1944, the year of the creation of our newspaper, which was then called “Le Parisien liberato”. From the end of the Second World War to the victory of the Blues in 1998 and 2018, passing through the coronation of Elizabeth II, the disappearance of Princess Diana or the fire of Notre-Dame.

A low ecological impact

Indispensable in the new generation of Internet (Web3), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) or “non-fungible tokens” have the function of digital ownership certificate of a virtual work. Their registration on the blockchain guarantees their traceability and creates trust for the owner, especially in the case of resale.

For this project called “Crypto-unes”, Le Parisien has chosen to use the Polygon network, a blockchain that is more energy efficient in its operation and whose exchanges respect carbon neutrality.

Become a pioneer of the project

Future buyers will be able to purchase some in cryptocurrencies or with a simple credit card. The “mint”, the actual production of the first pages of these collectors, will take place in autumn. Meanwhile, future buyers can follow the progress of the project on the Twitter social network but also by joining the dedicated Discord group.

The first 500 that will arrive will benefit from advantages during the first “drop” as a pioneer of an innovative project in the world of mainstream press.
