It is the latest major social network to set foot on Web3. According to the Financial Times, Snapchat will soon allow creators of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to display their artistic creations on its platform in the form of augmented reality filters, also called “lenses”.
It’s been a while since Snapchat created these filters, virtual images that can be superimposed on real images. With this project, developers will be able to create NFTs using a third-party platform and then port them to Snapchat as filters. Based on blockchain technology, these NFTs will link each filter to its creator. The first tests will take place at the end of August.
